Cuvettes are commonly made from different transparent materials such as optical glass, quartz or transparent plastic. Crown glass has an optimal wavelength range of 340–2500 nm. Glass cuvettes are typically for use in the wavelength range of visible light, whereas fused quartz tends to be used for ultraviolet applications. THz cuvettes are intended for spectroscopic analysis of various substances. A cuvette is some volume interposed between two windows transparent in a specific wavelength range. The window material is selected depending on the measurement range.

  • If you have any concerns or questions as to compatibility with your spectrophotometers or fluorometers please contact MxRady Lab Solutions for exact specifications on all of our cuvette products.
  • Acid and alkali are 1 cm cuvette avoided due to their corrosive effects on glass, and acetone is unsuitable when working with plastic cuvettes.
  • This cell has a good acid-proof, alkali-proof and organic-proof solvent property.
  • While 10 mm path lengths are the most widely used, absorption cuvettes come in path lengths ranging from 1 mm to 100 mm, as well.

Disposable cuvettes can be used in some laboratories where the beam light is not high enough to affect the absorption tolerance and consistency of the value. Fingerprints and droplets of water disrupt light rays during measurement, so low-lint gauze or cloth may be used to wipe clean the outer surface of a cuvette before use. Mild detergent or ethanol may be applied, followed by rinsing with tap water. Acid and alkali are avoided due to their corrosive effects on glass, and acetone is unsuitable when working with plastic cuvettes.

Uv

The combination of flow injection with electrophoresis using capillaries and chips. Same as Type 30 but with 4 clear windows and clear bottom. For fluorimetry – same as type 3 but with tapered PTFE stopper. To process your orders without delay, please provide the required business documentation to purchase this product.

Please select from the drop down menus and assure the part number's last digit corresponds to the desired pathlength. For example, part number 1-G-10 corresponds to a 10mm pathlength for a Type 1 Glass Cell. REFLEX Analytical welcomes your contact if assistance is required. To the best of our knowledge the information provided here is accurate. However, Ossila assume no liability for the accuracy of this page. The values provided are typical at the time of manufacture and may vary over time and from batch to batch.

Absorbance or transmission determinations shine spectrometer light directly through the cuvette to measure the amount of light absorbed or transmitted through the sample. In this measurement configuration, the opposite-side cuvette walls must be optically "clear" to let light pass unimpeded through the sample. The other two sides of the cuvette are often "frosted" to allow handling of the cell without dirtying the optical surfaces of the other two "measurement" sides of the cuvette. These are known as "two sides clear" or absorbance cuvettes. When youpurchase cuvettes for spectroscopy, you will find a diverse selection of premium-quality options.
